Shapedeep Terms and Conditions

1. Provider and scope

These Terms govern use of the Shapedeep mobile app, its account system, language-learning content, backend services, social features, and related web resources (together, the “Services”).

2. Acceptance and Privacy Notice

You accept these Terms by actively selecting the Terms checkbox during registration or when an updated Terms version is presented.

The Privacy Notice is provided separately. It explains data processing but is not a blanket consent. Optional usage analytics and crash diagnostics require separate choices where available.

If you do not accept the current Terms, you may not create or continue using a Shapedeep account.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services.

If you are under 18, you may use the Services only with parent or guardian permission where required by applicable law.

If you select “under 13” during onboarding, account creation is stopped or a provisionally created account is cleaned up.

For users aged 13 to 15, optional usage analytics and crash diagnostics are unavailable.

You must provide accurate information and must not misrepresent your age or identity.

4. Accounts and authentication

Core features require an account. Supported methods currently include email/password and Google Sign-In.

You are responsible for keeping credentials secure and for activity under your account. Do not share, sell, rent, or transfer an account.

Shapedeep may require email verification, recent sign-in, reauthentication, or other security checks before sensitive actions such as password changes, data export, or account deletion.

Notify support@shapedeep.com if you suspect unauthorised access.

5. Onboarding and preferences

The Services may request an age group, source and target language, learning reasons, humour preference, discovery source, app language, text-to-speech locale, and notification or sound choices.

The discovery-source question is optional and may be skipped. Shapedeep stores an age group rather than a complete date of birth.

You are responsible for selecting information honestly. Shapedeep may require an incomplete onboarding step before access to the main app.

6. Services

Shapedeep may provide:

• language lessons, vocabulary, grammar, stories, and exercises;
• text-to-speech and pronunciation support;
• progress tracking, XP, JP, CP, streaks, freezes, reserves, achievements, missions, rewards, and leagues;
• optional social profiles, username search, following, and follower features;
• protected-content delivery through backend functions;
• feedback, feature-request, and error-report tools;
• optional analytics and crash diagnostics after separate consent;
• self-service data export and account deletion.

Not every feature is available in every language pair, platform, release channel, or account.

7. Licence and intellectual property

Subject to these Terms, Shapedeep grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, and revocable licence to use the Services for personal, non-commercial language learning.

Shapedeep and its licensors retain all rights in the software, design, logos, illustrations, audio, stories, exercises, databases, protected lesson payloads, backend logic, and other content.

You may not copy, sell, redistribute, publish, scrape, mass-download, translate for redistribution, train a competing model or product on extracted content, or bypass technical protection measures except where mandatory law expressly permits otherwise.

8. Protected content and technical safeguards

Some learning content is delivered only through authenticated backend functions.

You must not:

• automate or replay protected-content requests;
• bypass Authentication, Firestore Rules, App Check, Play Integrity, rate limits, or Cloud Functions;
• reconstruct protected databases from app traffic;
• use modified clients, interception tools, bots, crawlers, or scripts to extract content;
• share extracted protected content with third parties.

Shapedeep may apply rate limits, App Check, integrity checks, request validation, and temporary restrictions to protect content and service stability.

9. Learning progress, virtual items, and no guaranteed outcome

XP, JP, CP, streaks, freezes, reserves, achievements, missions, rewards, leagues, and similar items are app-internal features only. They have no cash value and may not be sold, transferred, or exchanged outside the Services.

Shapedeep may correct progress or balances affected by bugs, abuse, test data, synchronisation errors, or unauthorised manipulation.

Shapedeep does not guarantee fluency, a specific exam result, error-free translations, perfect text-to-speech output, or an identical content scope for every language pair.

The Services do not replace professional translation, certified teaching, legal, medical, financial, immigration, psychological, or other professional advice.

10. Humour and content tone

Shapedeep may use humour, playful examples, edgy wording, fictional scenarios, or exaggerated stories. Content may not match every preference.

You may be asked for a humour preference. This does not guarantee a completely separate content catalogue in every release.

You may report inappropriate or incorrect content through the app.

11. Optional social features

A social profile is created only after activation. Username searchability is controlled separately.

Depending on your choices, other signed-in users may see:

• username or display name;
• selected avatar;
• total XP;
• current-week XP;
• current streak;
• follow/follower status.

Email address, JP, CP, join date, complete learning history, completed-lesson count, answers, and private onboarding or telemetry choices are not public profile fields.

Do not impersonate others, harass users, scrape public profiles, use social features for spam, or attempt to access private account data.

12. Feedback and other user submissions

You may voluntarily submit feedback, feature requests, and error reports. Do not include passwords, payment data, authentication codes, private keys, or particularly sensitive personal data.

You retain rights in your submission. You grant Shapedeep a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process, reproduce, and adapt the submission only as reasonably necessary to provide support, investigate errors, improve the Services, secure the Services, and comply with law.

Product ideas and suggestions may be used without compensation, while personal data remains subject to the Privacy Policy.

13. Optional analytics and diagnostics

Optional usage analytics and optional crash diagnostics are separate settings, start disabled, and are unavailable to users aged 13 to 15.

Shapedeep does not send the Firebase Authentication UID as an Analytics User-ID or Crashlytics user identifier.

Security, authentication, rate limiting, and essential operational processing may still occur when optional telemetry is disabled. Details are explained in the Privacy Policy.

14. Data export and account deletion

You may request a JSON export of account-related data from Settings, subject to reasonable rate limits and authentication checks.

You may delete your account in Settings. Recent sign-in or reauthentication may be required. An external deletion-request resource is also provided on the website.

Deleting the app does not delete the account. Account deletion is intended to remove the Authentication account, private user data, public social profile, relations, learning progress, submissions, and technical account-linked rate-limit state, subject to lawful retention and provider backup periods described in the Privacy Policy.

15. Acceptable use

You must not:

• use the Services unlawfully;
• violate intellectual-property or privacy rights;
• exploit bugs instead of reporting them;
• manipulate progress, rewards, streaks, missions, achievements, or leagues;
• interfere with servers, networks, Authentication, Cloud Functions, Firestore, or App Check;
• introduce malware or automated attack tools;
• create accounts for fraud, spam, scraping, or abuse;
• harass, threaten, deceive, or impersonate others;
• attempt unauthorised access to another account or non-public data.

16. Updates, required versions, and availability

Shapedeep may update, modify, suspend, or remove features for security, legal compliance, product improvement, infrastructure changes, or service stability.

An update may be required to continue using the Services. Older app versions may stop working when incompatible with backend security or data contracts.

The Services may be unavailable because of maintenance, provider outages, network issues, security incidents, force majeure, or other causes outside reasonable control.

17. Beta, development, and internal testing

Development, staging, beta, or internal-testing builds may contain unfinished features, test data, defects, or temporary legal-version identifiers. They may be changed or withdrawn at any time.

Do not publish non-public protected content, unreleased features, or security findings from private test versions without permission. Responsible security reports may be sent to security@shapedeep.com.

18. Third-party services

The Services rely on third parties such as Firebase, Google Cloud, Google Sign-In, Google Play, device text-to-speech services, and link-opening or sharing services. Their own terms may apply where you interact directly with them.

Shapedeep is responsible for selecting processors used to provide the Services as described in the Privacy Policy, but does not control independent third-party services or websites.

19. Paid services and advertising

The current app does not offer paid subscriptions, in-app purchases, or advertising.

Before paid services, subscriptions, advertising, or ad-supported features are introduced, Shapedeep will provide the applicable price, renewal, cancellation, withdrawal, consent, and privacy information and update these Terms where necessary.

20. Suspension and termination

Shapedeep may restrict or terminate access where reasonably necessary, including for serious or repeated violations of these Terms, unlawful use, fraud, scraping, content extraction, manipulation of app systems, harassment, or security attacks.

Where reasonable and legally possible, notice or an opportunity to remedy will be provided. Serious security or abuse cases may require immediate action.

You may stop using the Services and delete your account at any time.

21. Liability and statutory rights

Shapedeep is liable without limitation for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body, or health, guarantees expressly given, product-liability obligations, and other liability that cannot legally be limited.

For ordinary negligence, liability is limited to breach of essential contractual obligations and, in such cases, to typical foreseeable damage, to the extent permitted by law.

Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

22. Governing law and disputes

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected.

We aim to resolve concerns directly. Contact support@shapedeep.com first.

Shapedeep is neither willing nor obliged to participate in dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board unless legally required. The former EU Online Dispute Resolution platform has been discontinued.

The courts determined by applicable law have jurisdiction. A contractual place of jurisdiction applies only where legally permitted.

23. Changes to these Terms

Shapedeep may update these Terms for legal, security, infrastructure, or material feature changes.

Where required, users will be informed and asked to actively accept a new Terms version. Continued use alone will not replace an express acceptance where mandatory law or the app’s versioned legal flow requires it.

If you do not accept an updated Terms version, you must stop using the account and may delete it.

24. Severability and no waiver

If a provision is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective. The applicable statutory rule replaces the invalid provision.

Failure to enforce a provision immediately does not waive the right to enforce it later.
